St Nicholas’ Chapel in King’s Lynn seeks partner

St. Nicholas’ Chapel, just off the Tuesday Market Place is one of King’s Lynn’s most famous landmarks. The Churches Conservation Trust now has an opportunity to invite groups to work with and partner in the day-to-day operation of the building.

The Chapel is Grade 1 listed, and CCT would like one or more groups in the King’s Lynn community to manage the building in an effective and cost-efficient way.

This opportunity may appeal to community or commercial groups with a few year’s experience together, who need a larger base in the town. The opportunity is open to any organisation based in or around King’s Lynn. Possibilies could include a community café, history groups, local interest groups, theatre, etc.

The building has heating, lighting, toilet and kitchen facilities and space for up to 400 people and one of the great features of the building is that areas can be split down for smaller groups to meet in.

Simon Wiles, Head of South East region, CCT says: "The task needs inspirational and aspirational people. The challenge is to balance the income with the costs, but the payoff for the organisation is that surplus money generated after costs, will be theirs. There are conditions, as you would expect from looking after an historic building, but CCT want to support, help, coach and succeed with the organisation, so that the group’s work and effort results in a win-win for everyone. This beautiful building could be the centre piece in the town to invite and encourage your neighbours and communities to use it, love it and enjoy it."

Benefits for both parties would include:
• St. Nicholas’ Chapel is looked after for future years
• Local groups and organisations have a high-profile building from which to carry out activities
• The local community benefits from enjoying the events held in the Chapel
• CCT is assured that there is an organisation who loves the building as much as they do.
