Opportunity for a co-opted member of CCT's Finance & Audit Committee
We are looking to appoint a co-opted member to our Finance & Audit Committee. This would be a great opportunity to become involved in a secular charity that is nevertheless passionately devoted to the conservation and where feasible regeneration of these wonderful religious buildings. You would be supporting a team of experts who oversee the care of our portfolio; they in turn work closely with our volunteers and community groups to ensure a future for these beautiful churches.
You will be a chartered accountant with a wide range of experience who will be able to support and challenge the Finance & Audit Committee and our financial team. You don’t need to know about churches, but we’re looking for someone who is interested in this country’s heritage and would enjoy the close involvement with our fascinating portfolio and the people who look after it.
Our focus is to work closely with local communities to help them love and protect their local church so these important buildings have a purpose in the community. We encourage visitors to enjoy them too and they are often used for events, concerts, theatre productions and community group meetings, as well as occasional church services at key times of the year. A number of our churches offer ‘Champing’ and can be hired for filming and one is even used as a circus training school.
We are a registered charity and a sponsored body of the Church of England Commissioners and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. Around half of our income is funded by the Church of England and DCMS and we raise the other half from our own fundraising and commercial activities. Our Chair, Liz Peace, and our Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall direction and governance of the Trust and day-to-day management is delegated to our Chief Executive, Greg Pickup.
The Finance & Audit Committee meets four times a year, usually in person in London. You will be invited to join trustees at events and the annual trustees’ tour but these are optional.
You can learn more about us by reading our Annual Review here.
We will be talking to interested individuals over the summer in advance of the committee’s next meeting in September. This post is unremunerated but expenses are covered.
