War Memorials At Risk Open Day - Leicester
All Saints' Church, Leicester, Leicestershire
Part of for the Heritage Lottery Funded 'At Risk War Memorials' Project.
The Chancel of All Saints is used as a base for the Heritage Lottery Funded 'Leicester City, County & Rutland At Risk War Memorials Project'. This open day gives visitors an opportunity to examine a range of memorials which would have been lost without the efforts of this dedicated group of volunteers.
Due to the recent redevelopment of Leicester and the surrounding area, a number of important memorials associated with the First and Second World War were in danger of being lost. The At Risk War Memorials Project has saved a number of these which are presently on display in the chancel of the church. Knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to explain the significance of the memorials, with some fascinating stories of how they were saved! Tea and Coffee will be available on site.
