Organ Recital for St Swithun's-tide Featuring Andrew McCrea
Andrew McCrea, Curator-Organist of St Swithun's, plays a programme of Thomas Tomkins, J. S. Bach, John Stanley, Samuel Wesley and others for the season celebrating St Swithun's-tide.
Andrew McCrea has been the Curator-Organist of St Swithun's since 2010, when the restoration of the historic organ was completed. During this time he has played in many recitals and organised a number of recital series featuring guest organists. Andrew studied organ at the Royal College of Music and at Amsterdam Conservatorium, where he was a pupil of Jacques van Oortmerssen.
He combines playing with a career in academia: he is Deputy Director of the Royal College of Organists and teaches at the Royal College of Music. Andrew has held several appointments as a church organist, and as a recitalist has appeared in concerts both at home and overseas. He has given papers at international conferences and published a number of articles on organ-related topics in journals and books.
