Acoustic music concert featuring Ivor Novello nominee Charlie Dore and singer songwriter Andy Gibson

CHARLIE DORE- Best known as one of the UK’s most respected songwriters, Charlie’s own music, however, reflects her roots-acoustic background and is best described as eclectic, contemporary folk.  She enjoys a multi-faceted career that has included acting in film, TV & radio, writing for radio and composition for film & BBC TV and comedy improvisation.  Her songs have won two ASCAP awards, an Ivor Novello nomination, both the Overall Grand and the Folk Prize from the International Acoustic Music Awards and Best Album Lyrics from the Indy Acoustic Project for her album Cheapskate Lullabyes.  She is one of a handful of UK writers to have success across many genres, defined by the range of artists to have covered her songs, including George Harrison, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Lisa Stansfield, Paul Carrack, Ricky Ross and Jimmy Nail for whom she co-wrote the UK No. 1 Ain’t No Doubt.  Her song Strut reached No. 4 for Sheena Easton in the US, while her own single Pilot of the Airwaves reached No. 11.

“A gift for melody, brave, poignant, entertaining, original”
–  Guardian

ANDY GIBSON- Andy was brought up on music - from folk and jazz to baroque string quartets, and this is reflected in his broad range of styles.  He has written songs and tunes that borrow from the traditions of England, Scotland, the Appalachians and the American South.  Andy’s songs are clearly individual, observational and entertaining, and the tunes are instant earworms. His voice has been likened to that of a chorister with a 40-a-day habit - at once sweet and rough.

“A most accomplished and eclectic singer songwriter”
