Archaeology Open Day - Sandwich
St Peter's Church, Sandwich, Kent
Join us for an Archaeology Open Day. Meet the archaeologists involved and see some of the finds from our dig.
Find out more about the dig that has takeen place at St Peter's this winter. Speak to the archaeologists involved and see what has been uncovered.
Watch archaeologists uncover the original floor level of 12th-century St Peter's Church, lost after the tower collapsed in 1661.
The dig will lead to the installation of toilets outside the building, on the south-west side of the church and is being made possible with the help of a £49,000 grant from the Coastal Revival Fund. Due to the nature and significance of the site, an archaeological excavation has been necessary. Children welcome when accompanied by an adult.
Also, don't miss our fun, archaeology-inspired family activity sessions at St Peter's this Saturday and Sunday, 12pm to 2pm!
