About this Church

A Thames-side landmark

St Peter's is a picturesque Thames-side landmark with an elegant open-work spire and octagonal belfry. The previous church on this site was destroyed during the Civil War.

The gorgeous Georgian interior features a beautiful coffered ceiling and a rounded apse. Inlaid in the floor is the tomb of Sir William Blackstone (died 1780), author of the renowned Legal Commentaries.

Access information

Park in Thames Street car park opposite the church. Up 7 stone steps and flagstone path from Thames Street to the west porch. Further steps to chancel.

Facilities & Hire

St Peter's Church is available to hire for events and is a unique and beautiful venue. It benefits from a stage which makes it a perfect venue for concerts and performances.

It is also available for wedding blessings and funeral services.

Due to its historic nature the church has no running water or toilet facilities so thought needs to be given for events longer than a couple of hours. The Baptist church opposite St Peter's may be able to offer toilet and refreshment facilities.

St Peter's does have heating and electricity and has a capacity of 180 people.
