Dramatic marshland views and grimacing gargoyles
A solitary, partially ruined Norman church stands alone on a hill above the Roman port of Axium.
The steep climb to the church is rewarded with views over the marshes and the Bristol Channel.
Look out for grimacing gargoyles and scratched sundials.
Access Information
Up a steep very long grass slope to the churchyard entrance, then a sloping tarmac porch with a level entrance into a flagstone – floored porch and one step down to the nave and chancel. Please could visitors take care on the hill, not owned by the trust, on which the church sits. Sensible footwear advised.
Facilities & Hire
Due to the historic nature of our buildings, only a very small number of them have heating, running water and toilet facilities.The lighting is usually operated via a 'push button' timer or a motion sensor.
