About this Church

A pretty village church with a battlemented tower

St Mary's is built of Ham stone with a battlemented tower. Originally thirteenth century, it was considerably enlarged in the fifteenth century and further altered in the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries. The oldest feature is a circular Norman font. Traces of Medieval wall paintings have recently been discovered.

Access information

From a narrow lane with parking for 3 or 4 cars, there is an upward sloping path of stone and grass passing through iron gates leading to the south porch. Access through the south porch is relatively easy with one step down to the nave. Level entrance from path to the stone flag porch floor.

Facilities & Hire

Seavington St Mary's is available to hire for events and is a unique and beautiful venue.

There is electric lighting but due to its historic nature the church has no heating, running water or toilet facilities, so thought needs to be given for events longer than a couple of hours (e.g. portaloo hire).

St Mary's can seat up to 90 people.
