About this Church
Peaceful spot in the midst of modern development
This medieval church, with parts dating from the 1100s, has a bold brick tower and stands next to the grounds of Stansted Hall in a peaceful setting despite the nearby motorway and airport. It contains two exceptional seventeenth-century tomb figures - wasp-waisted Hester Salusbury in her hunting clothes and her father Sir Thomas Middleton.
