Visitor Welcome Volunteer - St John the Evangelist, Leeds
St John's Church, Leeds, West Yorkshire
Hidden amongst the high-rise buildings of the city centre stands St John the Evangelist, the oldest church in Leeds. A little over 380 years old, this charming building contains richly decorated woodwork, beautiful stained glass and a host of angels that watch from above.
We are looking for volunteers who are keen to help us open the church to the public and provide a first class visitor welcome to one of the city’s oldest landmarks.
You will work alongside other volunteers and staff to help us care for this wonderful church, create a professional and friendly environment for visitors and to support our aims to find new uses for the church that benefits the local community.
This volunteer role is customer focused with an emphasis on providing a warm and friendly welcome for visitors to the church and enabling them to discover some of the history of the building during their visit. There will be the opportunity to support the running of events in the church and to participate in national events such as Church Tourism Week and Heritage Open Days.
These volunteer sessions are flexible and you can sign up to as many sessions as you like each month! Your role will be supported by our local Volunteering Officer, no qualifications are required and full training will be provided.
If you would like to help others discover churches, then we would like to hear from you.
